Cell Phone Use May Contribute to Memory Loss
Researchers from Israel’s Ben Gurion University found that cell phone radiation may adversely affect the cognitive functions of phone users. The experiment tested the subjects’ ability to quickly remember images while exposed to the cell phone radiation. Cell phones were attached to both ears of 48 participants. One third of the subjects had the cell phone working on the right side of the head, one third with the phone functioning on the left side, and the remaining third had no working phone at all. The delay in reaction time appeared to be most significant among subjects who had the working phone closest to the brain’s left hemisphere. This study appears to be consistent with the findings of a separate study from Sweden performed on rats. The Lund University research team found that rats exposed to cell phone radiation for two hours a week for more than a year did poorly on a memory test compared to rats that had not been exposed. They believed this has to do with the cell phone’s microwave radiation causing a leakage through the blood-brain barrier. Yet another reason to be take necessary precautions when using cell phones. Using the speaker phone, an air tube hands-free headset, or a scientifically tested cell phone radiation shield are some viable options.

TRUE
That’s an interesting study. So the phone radiation affecting the left hemisphere of the brain leads to memory issues. I wonder what the effects are of using the phone by the right side of the face. Right brain is associated with creativity and emotions. Could those be affected too?
I’ve wondered whether mobiles do affect memory problems. I use my phone a lot in my line of work (real estate) and lately I’ve noticed I tend to forget more often. I just attribute it to aging, but maybe this has to do with it.
students are required to be aware when using phones in order not to lose their ability of rembering their subjects.
Hi, i have the same problem. I really do think the mobile phone has caused issues i currently have. I am 40 now and got my 1st mobile phone when I was 17. This was when mobile phones first came out and I have had one ever since. I have been an extremly heavy user over the past 23 years as I run a business which leaves me always on the phone… I dont even want to be on the phone these days because it actually effects how i am. When i have a day on the phone im very agitated, not relaxed and get a heavy feeling in my head…When I do not use the phone i feel much better… My memory is very worrying. Infact it is so poor I am worried about it. People say not to worry, but i can bearly remember what i done yesterday… I have to write everything down other i will certainly forget..
I think in the years to come more and more bad will come from phones and they will eventually be banned, just like smoking.
Hi
I have developed this problem of memory loss and severe lack of concentration since I have increased cellphone usage. I am really concerned because I always has a really good memory. Phone numbers, addresees, dates etc were easily remembered.I really want my meory back. Dont know what to do.
